NAPIER NOTES.

[From Ouh Own Correspondent.] Napier, October 12. The second annual meeting of the Wharerangi Pslo Club was held on Saturday night. A large number of persons were present and Mr W. Heslop presided. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season President, Mr Bennett (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs G. P. Donnelly, W. Heslop, J. Hutchinson, and A. Giblin ; captain, Mr S. J. Bennett ; committee, Messrs \V. J. Peacock, Stanley Bennett, -J. G. Hughes, W. Hutchinson, and C. Canning. The following new members were elected : —Messrs C. Canning, T. E. Crosse, D. Couper, F. Moeller, T. E. Lindsay, and W. Davis. It was decided to hold a gymkhana and sports meeting at the club's ground (Napier Park) on Boxing Day. A large crowd of people assembled on the Botanical Gardens yesterday to listen to the excellent progamme of music discoursed by the City Band. The sum of £8 lOs was collected in aid of the Hospital funds. A " prohibited person " named Duncan Kilpatrick appeared before the S.M. on Saturday charged with drunkenness in such a shabby condition that he had to be remanded for medical treatment. The Napier bowling green was' opened with great <:< lat on Saturday, members mustering in full force and enjoying a game on the splendid green provided by the caretaker. Tea was provided by Mrs Shirley, wife of the President. About thirty " old boys " of the local Wanganui School Old Boys' Association held a very pleasant re-union in the Scinde Lodge room on Saturday night. During the evening the following officers were elected :—President, Mr A. H. Cornford; treasurer, Mr A. G. Saxby ; committee, Messrs Brandon, M'Farlane, Hovell, «uidC. D. Cornford. "T There was a good attendance at the Hawke's Bay Amateur Athletic Club's sports on Saturday. The Maiden race was one by J. N. Hamilton ; the 75yds handicap by F. W. •Jago ; putting the 161b shot by G. F. Bonner (32ft 9in.); the 120 yds hurdle race by S. W. Fitzherbert; the one mile handicap by J. M. Hamilton; the schoolboys' race by Wi Hape ; the officials three-legged race by Budman and Cunningham; the high jump by J. L. Ryan (oft Bin) ; the 880 yds handicap by J. R. Fahey; and the one, three, and five mile bicycle handij caps by J. Caughley,
