By the Ruahine fifty high-priced stud sheep arrived, including eleven Lincoln ewes, seven Lincoln rams, and one Leicester ram. One ram died on the passage. Four are for Mr Tanner, of Hawke's Bay, and the remainder for Mr Douglas McLean. They arrived in excellent condition. They will undergo quarantine here. On Sunday Miss E. J. Royal, a passenger for Akaroa, died of pneumonia. The Liberal Electoral League have adopted Mr J. Hutchison as their Labor candidate and carried a platform with thirty planks. Some of the feminine members wanted to add an elective executive and the removal of women's disabilities, but they were defeated.
