AN ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION. liECIPROCA L I-'E ELI NO. Pakis, Oct. •"). The meeting of the French and English squadrons n the Channel was a magnificent spectacle. A salute of 100 guns was tired by the French and 21 by the English. The Czar received a great ovation on landing at Cherbourg, and was welcomed by President Fauvre and the Presidents of both Legislatures. The Czar expressed his admiration at the apparent efficiency and completeness of the French fleet. At a banquet, the President said the Czar would find that the heart of France beat at Paris. The Czar, in reply, said he fully shared in the sentiments of friendly nations, and was much touched by the sympathy and cordiality extended. In drinking the toast the Czar and President Fauvre touched glasses. The Czar and party ware then escorted f> Paris, where it is estimated there are three million visitors.
