Amateur Opera Company.
" lOLANTHE." The Hastings Amateur Opera Company finish their season of " lolanthe " at the Princess Theatre to-night. His Excellency the Governor and party %vill attend. Everything promises a huge success, and if people are turned away from the doors it will be no more than the amateurs deserve, for they have not received the treatment they are entitled to at the hands of the public. No one can say that the manner in which the opera has been staged is not perfect, and it is a great pity that local jealousies have militated against the patronage extended. Mr' A. A. George will have under the baton to-night a first-class orchestra and a really good company. The dressing will be attractive, and the singing and acting quite up to the best amateur standard. The limelight will throw an extra attractiveness on the pictures, and altogether the opera will be staged in a manner that should prove satisfactory to all who extend their patronage to the Princess Theatre this evening.
