[Special to Standard.] Wellington, This day. The Australian Humane Society has granted Torpedoman John Gaunt - lett, a bronze medal for attempting to rescue Charles Hooke, bricklayer, who fell from the Government launch Ellen Ballance some months ago while journeying across the harbor to the forts.
