The Premier intends to allow Queensland and Western Australian time to pass a Federal Enabling Bill before fixing the date of the Convention.
The Conference of freezing companies to discuss the putting of the trade on a more satisfactory footing confirmed the scheme adopted at the recent conference, and decided to send representatives to London to arranga with the banks and financial companies for the formation of a London committee to operate with the Australian Association and work out the practical details. Mr Seddon suggested to Mr Reid that a united cable from the colonies should be sent to Lord Salisbury regarding the Armenian atrocities, but as Mr Reid thought it was better not to hamper the Imperial authorities, and replied to Mr Seddon to that effect, the latter concurring.
