[Special to Standard.] Haweea, This day. Mr B. C. Bobbins addressed the electors here last night condemning the finance administration of the Government. He announces himself an Independent candidate. Wellington, This day. A six-roomed house at the Upper Hutt was burned last night. Nothing was saved. The loss is £BOO above the insurance—£2oo in the New Zealand. It is supposed to have been caused by children playing with matches. Steven Boscke was committed for trial on three charges for stealing a horse and cart and forging a bill. Woodville, This day. Wm. Elliott, farmer' was found lying in a paddock at Outfarm yesteryesterday, having been there over fifty hours through a paralytic stroke. Chkistchurch, this day. The police have abandoned the search for Miss Wells, who was drowned off the New Brighton pier last week. The Progressive Liberal Association has passed a resolution hoping that the Government will do its utmost to pass the Eight Hours Bill into law this session, and urging the Government to bring in a Bill extending the powers of the liquidators of the Colonial Bank re the "B " and " C " lists. Dunedin, This day. Messrs Crawford and Anderson are definitely out for Bruce.
