THE NILE EXPEDITION.

THE TAKING OF ZOWARAT. THE DERVISHES FLEE BEFORE THE EGYPTIANS. Cairo, Sept. 20. At the sight of the Egyptian troops the Dervishes abandoned thoir camp and were pursued by the cavalry and cunboats. Six gunboats and large quantities of grain and war material were captured, and several Emirs yielded. The gunboats shelled a force of 500 Dervishes who were endeavoring to prevent the seizure of grain. The main body fled into the desert, and in their desire to escape many dropped their children in the sand and left them to their fete. A few who refused to surrender were cut to pieces. Colonel Burn Murdock, who is in command of the mounted forces, pursued the Arabs into the desert, and caused great havoc, besides capturing 500 prisoners. It is thought the Dervishes are likely to evacuate the province.
