The death is announced of the Right Hon. George Denman, aged 77. For 20 years he occupied a seat as a judge, and in 1892 he retired, being subsequently appointed to the judical committee of the Privy Council. As the Queen will to-morrow complete the record reign on the English throne the newspapers generally refer to Her Majesty in congratulatory terms.
The Colonial Consignment Company's balance-sheet shows a profit of £18,444. A dividend of 4 per cent has been declared, and the company carries forward £698.
The manager of Barclay's Bank at Newbaven, who was supposed to be severely wounded by a burglar who stole £IBOO in notes, has been arrested, and it is found that the notes were cashed before the alleged burglary took place.
