THE ARMENIAN QUESTION.
THE SITUATION IMPROVING. THE EXPULSION OF ARMENIANS STOPPED. MORE KURDISH BUTCHERY. Constantinople, Sept. 21. The wholesale expulsion of Armenians has been stopped by the Sultan, and arrests are now limited to criminals. The opinion is gaming ground that the situation is improving, and that the difficulty will be settled without recourse to arms. Replying to a Note from the Powers, the Sultan absolves the military and police from taking part in the recent massacre. Later. A Kurdish massacre is reported from Kharput, where GOO Armenians have been put to death. Nubar Pasha has sent £-100 for distressed Armenians in the capital. London, Sept. 21. Dr Moorhouse addressed 10,000 people at Manchester to-day, when he supported the protest against the atrocities in Turkey.
