Interprovincial News.

Mr Alfred Boardman has consented to be nominated for the Auckland Mayoralty.

The Dunedin Charitable Aid Board yesterday decided to vote £25 to the Miners' Association to assist it in carrying on operations, as it was recognised that the men employed would otherwise become a charge on the charitable aid funds.

A deputation of trades unions waited on the Premier last night ancl urged him to reintroduce the Private Benefit Societies Bill, which was recently killed in the Legislative Council. The Premier, in his reply, said the Lower House had done its duty to the workers in respect to this measure. The representatives of the people had passed it five times and the Legistative Council had rejected it. He would place the request of the deputation before the Cabinet.

A deputation from the Women's Democratic Union w T aited upon the Premier last evening and made a number of suggestions in connection with the measure for the suppression of juvenile depravity. Amongst other things the deputation suggested the appointment of female inspectors to carry out the provisions of the Act so far as they related to young girls, and also proposed modifications regarding the treatment of children found in the streets at night. Mr Seddon said he had decided to accept some recommendations made by Mr Saunders to utilise the services of women. This had necessitated recasting the whole Bill, and the probability therefore was that it would not be ready in time to pass this session. He promised, however, that the recommendation of the deputation would receive due consideration.
