[Fbom Otjb Own Correspondent.] Napier, September 18. The Chief Justice has give judgment by consent for plaintiff for £6O 8s with cost on the lowest scale in the suit Tylee v. Herman, which has been hanging fire for several sessions. The dispute was one about the training and keep of racehorses and the manipulation of promissory notes. At the inquest on the body of Mrs Chambers last night a verdict was returned that death waa due to paralysis of the heart as the result of the use of an instrument and injection. At the S.M. Court yesterday two precocious youths named Hugh Connor and Charles Miller were charged with theft, the former of 80 sacks value 10s and a silver watch and chain, and the latter with a silver watch and chain and matphbox. Miller was committed to St. Mary's Industrial School, Nelson, and Connor's father was bound over in recognisances for hie son's future conduct.

Several ladies have joined the Wanderers Bicycle Club, and Mrs McDougall, Misses Ryan, C. Caughley, King and Fraser were added to the ranks at a meeting last night. It has been decided to present all members with a silver monogram badge of the Club. The run on Saturday is likely to be a big success. . The Wanderers Bicycle Club have recieved a telegram from the secretary of the N.Z. Cyclists Alliance to the effect that Mr F. G. Simpson has been chosen as the representative of this colony to compete at the Australasian meeting at Sydney on the 3rd October. Several Napier residents arepromotiug a syndicate to exploit Taranaki ironsaid, and, I believe, have secured the extended lease of a considerable extent of the beach at- New Plymouth, The talented Collins family put in an excellent programme at the Theatre Royal last evening to a good audience, who enjoyed the performance very much. It would be wortl! the while of Hastings playgoers to offer an inducement to Mr Collins to take his youngsters to Hastings for a night. Mr H. Carrick a well-known journalist, for many years on the Southland Times, and formerly of the Auckland Herald, has accepted a position on the editorial staff of the Napier News.
