Presbyterian Tea and Concert.
Last night the annual tea and social for the children of the Hastings Presbyterian Sunday school was held. The children met at half past-five in the Band Hall and did ample justice to the array of good things provided by the ladies of the congregation. Then at half-past seven, in the church, a very enjoyable social was held. About two hundred in all were present, including a number of parents and friends. A number of excellent musical items were given, including choruses by a choir of children assisted by members of the church choir. Some recitations and readings were also given. Great credit is due to those who got up the musical programme for the pains which must have been taken to secure such a satisfactory rendering of the music. Rev. Mr Morrison presided, and said a few words to the parents urging them to co-operate heartily with the Sabbath school teachers in their work. Rev. Mr Miller, of Napier, gave a very happy and instructive address, which was listened to with great interest by young and old. Mr Campbell, the superintendent of the school, also spoke, asking for the teachers, the sympathy and aid of the parents. The children seemed thoroughly to enjoy the meeting, which broke up about half-past nine.
