The Kaiwarra Murder.
A SEE lOCS CONFESSION. [By Tnr,mnsAPH.j ( From <>ur Sjim'al < 'urrcsjinHili'iit.) Wkllinotox, This day. The police authorities, instigated by Mr Mills, of Chemis fame, intend probing to the bottom the confession made some months ago by flareford to the Sydney police in connection with the Kaiwarm, murder. It will be recollected that the Sydney authorities disci-edited the confession, sayine- after superficial enquiries that Haretore was an inmate of the Burnham Industrial School at the time the crime was committed. This since proved not to have been the case. A grave which liareford indicated as the place where the knife and gun with which he committed the murder were buried is to be immediately reopened. Possibly Hareford's story may be a fabrication, but with the doubt that exists as to whether Chemis really committed the crime for which he was sentenced to <le->th —a senteJic-e that was afterwards commuted" to penal servitude for life—it is clearly the duty of the authorities to see whether this confession is well founded.
