One hundred and'sixty refuse carts full of corpses were seen 011 Thursday, and .some estimate the number killed at 10,000, many women and children being included. The scene in the streets resembled the description of the massacre of St. Bartholomew. September 1. A bomb, which was thrown yesterday in Galta, killed a number of soldiers. The representatives of the various ■ nations have notified the Porte that they believe it eonvived at the massacre. and that no attempt was made to control the mob for upwards of HO hours. Hoys were allowed to parade the JBpreets stabbing the bodies of the victims. It is expected in Berlin that the Government organised the bank episode. Four hundred ha\e been arrested and charged with excesses. Later. In order to mark their sense of horror at the recent massacres, all the Embassies decline to illuminate tin n ~ building* as usual in honor of th< Sultan'* bin hday.
