Supreme Court Sittings.
[By Telegraph] [Special to Standard.] Wellington, this day. In the Supreme Court Mr Jones, contractor, of the well-known contracting firm of Palliser and Jones, brought an action to recover from Ex-detective Kirby the amount of £2OO, estreated bail. After argument, judgment was reserved. The vexed question of the sheltersheds for expressmen on the wharf opposite the Post Office came on at the Supreme Court, when the Judge decided that the grant for the reserve was not complete when the Corporation entered upon it. This means that the Government wins its case, and the sheds have to be removed. They are an eyesore, and most people will be glad of their removal. Christchurch, this day. At the Supreme Court yesterday, Michael John Eeddington was tried on two indictments of forging and uttering promissory notes, and found not guilty. Abraham George Jague was acquitted on a charge of perjury.
