A smart shock of earthquake, accompanied by a more than usual loud rumbling, occurred at 1.20 a.m. It was raining and blowing at, the time. It rained hard all night, but it is "now fine and promises to continue so. Unless, however, the wind comes on, the ground will be bad for the New Zealand v. Queensland match tomorrow.
