"F —« v. WELLINGTON. AM EASY WIN FOR THE LOCALS [By Telegraph.l [SrKCLVL to Staxkabd.] Wellington, This day. The match between Wellington and Queensland on • the Park yesterday afternoon was about the most onesided affair ever witnessed here, and the local team simply ran over their opponents, putting up 49 points to 7. The winners were the heavier team, but they never played better, and their passing rushes were a treat to witness. They crossed the line 14 times, but only two of the tries were converted. The Queenslanders were fairly nonplussed, and did not play at all up to reputation, though at times they fought a plucky up-hill game. Their score was from a penalty kick and a mark, both goals being neatly placed. The Bananalanders played without their skipper, " Sammy" Cockroft, who witnessed the second defeat of his team in this colony. However, Queensland should put in better work than that of yesterday before they finish their tour, and their team is looked upon to get closer to the New Zealand match on Saturday.
