Blenheim, August 11. Much dissatisfaction is felt at the new boundaries, and a petition is being circulated protesting against the same. Both Mr T. L. Buick, the present member, and Mr C. W. Mills (senior Government Whip) have announced their intention of contesting the seat, which will simplify matters for the Opposition candidate. New Plymouth, August 11. On Sunday evening as a party of Native women were passing under the White Cliffs, Pukeruhe, a tremendous slip suddenly occurred, one of the women being buried in the debris. Wellington, August 11. Mr Mitchelson intends to give up politics as soon as the present session is ended, and will not contest any seat at the general election. A fire broke out early this morning in the City Dining Rooms, Lambton Quay, the back portion of the building being destroyed. Several offices adjoining were damaged by water. The block, which is owned by Jacob Joseph, is insured for £IOOO in the Commercial Union, £IOO in the Imperial, and £SOO in the Eoyal Exchange.
