Lawyer Jellicoe Assaulted.
£IOO REWARD. [By Telegkapji. ] „ [Special to Standard.] \Ykixj:;gto", This day. Mr K. J. Jellicoe, solicitor, was the victim of a cowardly assault last night. About 9 o'clock he was proceeding to his residence, which is situated in a rather lonely spot, when suddenly a man who had been walking behind him, struck him on the head with a stick, knocking him down. The assailant then made off, and the police are searching the neighborhood. Mr Jellico states that the man was an Irishman, and in delivering the blow said, ' 1 Damn you —take that.'' Mr Jellicoe was a witness in Dr Cahill's case, and the assault is attributed in some way to that. Later. Mr Jellicoe offers a reward of £IOO for the arrest of the man who assaulted him on Wellington Terrace last night. The little barrister describes his assailant as an "Irish ruffian," the wish evidently being to imply that the assault was committed in revenge over the Cahill case. This opinion is not shared by the public.
