THE ENGLISHMEN LOSE ONE WICKET FOR 69 RUNS. g| London, August 10. * 1 At the last moment Richardson, Abel, and Hayward were reinstated in the All England Eleven, Pougher, Mold, and Stoddart being displaced in their favor. The Australians left out Graham, Eady, and Johns. Unfortunately it was raining heavily at noon, and play did not begin till after lunch. The attendance, despite the weather, was enormous. Grace won the toss and took the first innings in order to give the Australians the disadvantage of handling the wet ball. Grace and Jackson went first to the wipkets, and at the time of the sending of the message had made 12 without losing a wicket. Later. Heavy rain fell at intervals during the day, and when stumps were drawn the Englishmen had made 69 for the loss of one wicket.
