LI HUNG CHANG'S VISIT.

ENTERTAINED AT A BANQUET. HONORING GENERAL GORDON. London, August 7. The China Association haa entertained Li Hung Chang at a banquet. In replying to the toast of his health he referred to the remarkable recognition and British friendship. He spoke of the necessity of the extension of the commercial relations between Great Britain and China. Li Hung Chang to-day laid a wreath on General Gordon's statue in Trafalgar Square, and himself and suite bowed reverently during the ceremony. Afterwards, in the presence of the boys from the Gordon Home, the Chinese Viceroy placed a wreath on Gordon's cenotaph in St. Paul's with the inscription, "To a soldier and a friend of China; a tribute of respect."
