THE IMPOUNDING QUESTION.
.[To the Editor.] Sie, —I hope the members of the Borough Council will take no notice of Cr Tyerman and his advocacy of the petition for rescinding the borough bye-laws in connection with impoundings. Only those who have gardens and who have had them spoiled by wandering cattle can appreciate a zealous ranger, and I am certain that since the recent appointment has been made there have"b%en fewer complaints than heretofore. It is a fact, perhaps not known, that certain persons owning cows and selling milk have not an acre of land on which to graze them, and it is natural that such persons should make as much use of the streets and of, other people's paddocks as they possibly can. It will be readily admitted that innocent persons have been called upon to answer a breach of the byelaw before the Magistrate ; but should that be used as an argument why the bye-law should be abolished'? No, Sir ; there is far too much free grazing of cattle-, and the Borough Council insist on the law being carried SCBISSEBQWS.
