THE HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION.
[To the Editor.] Sib,—l was struck with the truth of your Napier correspondent's remarks a day or two ago in reference to the lame excuses set: ap there for openly violating the half-holiday law. In Hastings we see the same thing, and there are at least two shopkeepers who are practically grocers, but who keep a little fruit in their windows, who keep their shop open on the regulation halfholiday, and sell goods in competition with those who are compelled to close. \ As no noyce appears to be taken by those who should see the law carried out, I think it unfair to those in the same line who are handicapped by sa\mg to shut their shops. Hoping <Sio->e to blame for allowing this to continue will open their eyes to the ini ice wrought.—l am Ac., " Observes.
