RACING FATALITY. Sydney, August 2. At the Warwick Farm races, the horse Taralba fell and broke his leg, and was destroyed. The jockey, McLeod, was fatally injured. V.A.T.C. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. Melbourne, August 2. At the V.A .T.C. meeting the following was the result of the chief event : Grand National Hurdles. Summerlea (Ferguson)... 1 Morago (Morris) ... 2 Eilar (Lanerty)... ... 3 Thirteen horses started. All Right was first away, but Summerlea led into the straight and carried on the running until the back of the course was reached the first time round. Glen don a then took charge, and he piloted the way to the straight on the home journey, followed by Morago and Summerlea, who were both coming fast, and chased by Eilar and All Right. When the leaders were well within the distance Morago appeared to have the race won, but. Summerlea with a late run gradually wore him down, and won a grand race by half a neck. Time, 4min 26sec. Betting—7 to 2 against All Right, 9 to 2 Artist, 12 to 1 Eilar and Summerlea. ENGLISH SPORTING. THE GOODWOOD CUP. London, August 1. Count Schomburg had a walk over for the Goodwood Cup.
