THE SITUATION IN CRETE.
RUSSIAN IRONCLADS TO THE FRONT. REFUGEES LEAVING THE ISLAND. St. Petersburg, August 1. Two Russian ironclads have been ordered to proceed to Crete. Constantinople, August 2. It is reported that the insurgents' demands have been rejected. Five hundred refugees have sailed from Canea. August 2. The Christians at Herakleion laid in wait for the Moslems, and killed 15. The Greeks have landed an additional force at Crete.
