"Southern Cross, s.s., for Northern ports, August 1. The s.s. Kahu left yesterday for Lvttelton and the Chatham Islands. The s.s. Anglian arrived this morning from Sydney via Auckland, and left again for the south this afternoon. The s.s. Tarawera left Sydney yesterday for Auckland. The a.s. Wakatipu left Melbourne for the Bluff yesterday. The barque Kate Tatharn arrived at Newcastle yesterday from Napier. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Di nf.din, July 29. The barque Dexa, from Port Pine for Newcastle-on-Tyne, put into harbor today, having lost several sails and sustained other damage during a gale. Captain Anderson reports leaving Port Pine on July 3rd, with 1241 tons concentrated sulphide ore. When off Cape Rorda the vessel encountered a gale which increased to a hurricane, with a terrific sea. The gale continued from the sth to the 20th. The barque lost several sails, and as the main hatch was found to be caved in a course was shaped for Otago.
