The wool sales closed very firm. Drought is being severely felt in southern England. The pastures are burnt up and food for cattle is scarce. The hay crop is almost a failure, and the yield of the corn crops will be reduced. The Dalgonar, for Sydney, has arrived at St. Vincent on fire. Her cargo of gunpowder was jettisoned. Mr Donald M'lntosh, of Melbourne, obtained the best average in a week's shooting of the National Gun Club at Hurlingham and Notting Hill, and won £SOO. Much enthusiasm was manifested at the cententary celebration of Robert Burns in Dumfries. Shares in the Maori Dream Company, New Zealand, have been alloted. St. Petersburg, July 21. The Governor of Warsaw has been delegated by the Czar to take control of the Vistula provinces. The Government are floating a loan of 100,000,000 roubles, and it is being taken up by leading financial firms. Rome, July 21. In the estimates submitted by the Government it is intended to set aside 230,000,000 lire for the reorganisation of the army. Caiho, July 21. The cholera outbreak in Egypt is abating. The troops will leave the infected places and camp in the desert. Washington, July 21. The Populist leaders are making strenuous efforts to prevent their party bolting, and have agreed to nominate Mr Bryaa foe the Presidency,
