An Unfortunate Position.

FOR AN INNOCENT GIRL. [By Telegraph] [Special, to Standard..] Wellington, July 15. An Irish girl, not long from her native country, made a complaint before the Benevolent Trustees that she had been tricked into going to Greymouth in answer to an advertisement in a Wellington paper. On arrival at Greymouth she found the house to be one of ill-fame, frequented by Europeans and Chinese. She fled from the spot and returned to Wellington. The Union Company had retained her box because she could not pay her passage. The box has been released, and the case of the girl is now being investigated by the authorities.
