Iredale played a superb innings, and was batting for five hours and a half. He was badly missed by Storer off the first ball. Trott gave a fine display, and was at the wickets for two hours and threequarters. Though he gave no chance off the bat, he was thrown out when his total was at seven, but the fieldsman did not appeal. The Players have lost five wickets in their first innings for 92 runs.
