Mr Chamberlain states that the rumor that Sir Hercules Robinson will not return to Cape Colony owing to illness is quite unfounded. He adds that his health is improving and that Sir Hercules will soon return. Cape Town, July 3. The powder escort has reached Fort Charter safely, but had some sharp fighting with the natives. July 4. A newspaper here asserts that the Transvaal Government connived at Mr Leonard's escape to London, as it was believed he would denounce Mr Rhodes. July 5. News from Buluwavo would lead to the conclusion that the rising has been suppressed, but it is thought some other message has been lost in transit. The field force which had been .operating has been disbanded, and if is intended to employ police in its place to the number of 1000. The ; friendly natives are still very restless. I
