NAPIER NOTES.
[Feom Our Own Correspondent.] Napier, July 8. I have just learned that when Mr Close returned from bis recent trip he brought with him some plans on the most modern principles to utilise in the rebuilding of the Masonic Hotel, 011 which I speculated in my last. I do not wish to be understood to say that the plans brought along by Mr Close will inflict any hardship on local architects. They will, as it were, be used as guides in determining the interior arrangements. The new portion of the hotel, I am now given to understand, will outshine anything in New Zealand. Advance Napier! Hastings will have to hurry up. At the S.M. this morning George Henry Williams was charged with false pretences at Meaneon Thursday, 30th, by obtaining from Eliza Scullion cash amounting to £3 17s Gd, a cheque for £2 10s, 12s Gd worth of postage stamps, and goods valued at 18s. On the application of the police accused was remanded till 10th inst.
