EARLY CLOSING.
[To THE EdITOB.] g IRi —There is a matter which calls for the consideration of the majority of the business people in Hastings, and that is the manner in which the six o'clock closing agreement is violated. It is no uncommon thing to sea certain establishments open long after the prescribed hour, not always with the doors wide open as on Monday night, but just ajar so that any night shoppers have no difficulty in gaining access. These tactics are very unfair "to those who do close at the agreed hour. I would that the Government be petitioned to insert a clause in the Shops Act providing that the hour for closing of shops be settled each year when the half-holi-day is fixed by the Borough Council. We should then be sure of fair play to all and hardship to none. I am, &c., Juawca.
