SOUTH AFRICAN AFFAIRS.

THE MATABELE MUTILATING WOMEN. THE NATIVE PROPHET TRACKED. Cape Town, June 25. The Matabele are mutilating the women they capture. Instances are reported in which the unfortunate victims have been driven to suicide rather than risk the horrors of capture. Captain Burnham tracked the native prophet Olemo to a sacred cave in the Matoppo hills, and found him officiating before a large crowd of natives, who lied in terror directly the seer was shot. Lieutenant H. Brunner, 20th Hussars, was killed in the skirmish.
