Grand National TRAINING NOTE S. [By Gipsy Grand.] The heavy rains last night played havoc with the training tracks, and this morning the horses were obliged to work in a regular sea of mud. The heavy state of the course has been somewhat disappointing to several trainers, whose intention it was to give their chargers their windingup " go." A heavy fall of rain took place this meriting about 9 o'clock when a number of horses were on the track. A general rush was made for all the available shelter, but the accommodation was found to be inadequate, and a number of horses were obliged to remain in the downfall for about twenty minutes. The work of preparing the course for the big jumping events is in full swing, and this morning a number of men were engaged in erecting the obstacles at various points on the course. A goodly number of horses were in attendance this morning, but fast work was out of the question. New Forest was sent a couple of rounds at half pace. C«nnop has the son of Newminster in splendid condition and if looks go for anything the Australian bred 'un should soon win a race. Mutiny and Chris were associated in a two mile run on the tlat. The pair appeared none the worse of" their northern trip and brushed along in good style. The Wairar.ipa jumping representatives —Kaika and Dromedary—were worked on the Hat, and each appeared to relish the soft going. Dromedary is looking very well, and if she runs a race on Wednesday similar to that of the Curragh Steeple last November at Christchurch. when she gave Gillie all his work to get home, she wiH have to be reckoned with. Canard was brushed along for a couple of circuits ; lie is a lot lighter in condition than when seen out at the Fark. Slaiden was given a couple of rounds at half pace. This horse is nominated for he Bracelet, but I fail to see how li e is 'eligible to start for that event. Lord Raven put in two miles at a fair bat; lie shows signs of improvement since his last appearance at the Park. Revolt jumped off for a couple of miles at three-quarter pace. The son of Treason is in good heart, and it is more than probable that Freeth's horse will capture a race at the coming meeting. Kapua was restricted to slow work on the flat. The Mute gelding appears to be a bit sore in the liind legs. Lighthouse was put over the big country for three rounds, and. considering the state of the ground, the liorse made a firstclass display. St Regal put in steady work for a couple of rounds. Mystical, with R. Kingan up, was sent a couple of miles at three-quarter pace. Zanzibar put in a couple of circuits of steady work. Conscript was worked on the flat yesterday morning. The Karamu horses were in attendance, and put in slow work.
