AGAIN ST AND GROUND. A ONE INNINGS' DEFEAT FOR THE COLONIALS. London*, June 12. ( On the match being resumed on Friday the wicket played much better and enabled the Colonials to put on a few runs. Hearne was bowling well, and at times was simply unplayable. No stand was made until Darling joined Gregory, and these two batsmen made tilings likely for a time, Darling being the chief factor in putting on 100 runs in 65 minutes. His score included eight 4's. Eady opened with extreme caution being at the wickets half an hour before adding any runs. Twice 1 e was beaten and narrowly escaped losing his wicket, but afterwards played free, and was at the wickets for two hours. » The innings closed for 183 runs.
