. ——* Mr ]>. Crew.? reports :—At my Pahiatna stock sale, held on Tuesday, June 2, the yards were again taxed to their full carrying capacity. The cattle yarded numbered >S24, which was e-,xi =idi rubly more than the ni::>ib.r entered and advertised. Tho supply was doubtk*s greater than the demand. The majority of the lines wei- p ? 111 under the hammer. failing to i nh tne owners* reserves, which were in litanv cases above a fair market value. Ahuough there was a downward tendency shown throughout the cattle sale, I succeeded in quitting many lines that were passed in at prices in favor of purchasers. The sheep generally were well compete.\ for and sold at the following prices :—2 anil 4-tooth ewes, good lines, 7s 2d to 9s : mixed ewes, 6s 6d; aged ewes, -Is 4d: wethers, medijmi. bs. Cattle.—2.% -year steers, L2 10s: fat cows. 1,4 7s 0d : 2-year-old dairy lieifers, L 3 10s to L 3 l"2s 0«l; yearlings, L2 2s; weaners, 20s to 2.'ts lid ; calves, 10s ; dairy cows. Again I would request all vendors to send in their entries for future sales early. so that they may be advertised and buyers notified, iyjt tiers will find this course to their advantage generally. My next Pabiatua stock sale takes place on Tuesday, June 10th.
