Sugar Beet.
The Chino Ranch, San Bernardino Country, California, comprises 10,000 acres of arable land, a large proportion of which (7000 acres) is devoted to the cultivation of sugar beet. The Chino Valley Sugar Beet Company, whi .se extensive works are located in Chino consumes the entire p -oduct of this vast area of land, and the result to the fanners have ranged from r,O to 100 dollars (or £lO 8s -M to £2O lGs Nd). per acre annually. The range in valueis accounted for by the fact that there are more or less varieties in soil and more or less difference in the skill with which the soil is tilled. No field of agricidture is more invitin r than this to the genuine farmer with small means.
