THE PREMIER.

Leadership has always been a very wonderful fact, but successful leadership of- a political'party in a democracy is by no means easy of attainment. In Mr Seddon, the Liberal Party possess a capable leader. He combines in his personality the power to command and the art of securing obedience. A strong will, and abundance of tact; strength of body and strength of mind; a wonderful capacity for hard work ; a rare ability to seize upon detaMs and sift them; unbounded courage and confidence and a bonhomie that is irresistible. It is acknowledged by friends and foes alike that the Pemier's personalty counts for a great deal, and the fortunes of the Liberal Party at the approaching general election will be influenced as much by the personality as by the policy of the Premier.
