Capetown, May 28. Napier's flying column, 300 strong, defeated 1500 natives. It co-oporates with 600 troops from Fort Salisbury for the purpose of driving the Matabele from Matoppo hills. Mr Rhodes has promised that the Chartered Company will compensate settlers, form a strong permanent police, and build forts for the protection of inhabitants. He specially thanked the Afrikander corps, and promised to allot the burghers land.
