RESUMPTION OF LAND.
FOR CLOSE SETTLEMENT
IMITATING NEW ZEALAND
Sydney, May 2S. A Bill has been introduced into the Legislative Assemby to give the Government power to resume lands for the purposes of close settlement, and authorise an expenditure of £300,000 annually. It is probable that in the event of the sale of such land it must not be for a less sum than it cost the Government, or if leased, the annual rental must be 4 per cent on the cost.
