(Fr.o.u Ocn Own C«»kki:spoxi>ext.] Napier, This Day. The "Wellington contractors for the Xapior breakwater extension are bringing 100 men from Wellington, retaining only 2~> "f the old hands. The wages are fixed at Os and 7s per day. The' Junior i. . held the last of their socials before tillering upon the serious work of the educational session last evening, when the Excelsior liecreation Club were present as visitors. Dean Ilovell presided. The Secretary read a telegram from the Prime Minister, who was to have been present, regretting that his engagements would not permit his cittendanee. During the evening Mr Poison, 8.A., of the High School, addressed the meeting exhorting each member to form ambitious ideals and to strain every effort to attain them. Mr Leigh also spoke, explaining the objects of the club, which he hoped would flourish and do good service in the district. Songs and recitations were contributed by various members, and lady friends supplied a most recherche supper.
