A DOMESTIC TRAGECY

A WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. Melbourne, May 16. At the inquest on Mrs Edith Sarah Price, the -wife of a Melbourne solicitor, who committed suicide at her residence, Morehouse-street, Collingwood, the medical evidence was to the effect that there were five wounds in the throat, and both the jugular veins were cat by deep incised wounds. There was a doubled boot-lace round the neck, and knotted in front. In Dr. Loosle's opinion it was tied after the small wounds had been indicted. Arthur Jennings Price, the husband of deceased, stated that deceased was 27 years of age. He parted from her on Tuesday. On Monday the deceased made a statement to him, upon which he determined to leave her, and he left next-day, and did not again see her alive. He left her in the house he occupied, and made arrangements which she knew of, for her maintenance. She was not addicted to drink to his knowledge. She was regularly eccentric at nights, but she was cheerful, and in the mornings she was almost invariably hysterical. In a letter he wrote to her on Tuesday he stated: —" We could never be happy again after what you have told me, and I do no think it would be right of me on any ground whatever to pass by the wretched affair you have disclosed to me. How could I have confidence in you again "? I feel I could not. It was too cruel of you. I pray God may forgive you, as I believe He will, if you sincerelv look up to Him." Other evidence went to show that she was of intemperate habits. The jury returned a verdict of suicide whilst of yXISOUIId mi lid.
