AGAINST A SOUTH OF ENGLAND TEAM. London, May 18. The following team played for England against the Australians to-day:— Hillyard, Mold, Pougher, Trafford, Briggs, Baker, C. Smith, Sugg, A. Ward, 11. Ward, and Rawlin. The attendance was large, and the weather fine. The Homo team batted first, but only succeeded in totalling 111. The only double-figure scores wore : A. Ward, b Jones ... 22 Sugg, b Trumbe ... 20 Baker, b Jones ... 17 Briggs, b Eady ... 10 Pougher, not out ... 27 Jones bowled splendidly, taking eight wickets for 39, and Eady one for 11. The Australians have lost four wickets in their first innings for 108. Donnan (59) and Darling (11) were the principal contributors.
