THE VISIT OF THE PREMIER.
TO SPEAK AT HASTINGS. We have been privileged to see a private wire from the Premier, which was received yesterday, and which reads as follows : "In accordance with my promise when I last visited your district, I intend to speak first at Hastings. The death this afternoon of Sir Patrick Buckley has somewhat disarranged my plans. Otherwise I intended to have intimated to you this morning definitely when I should be with you. I will let yon know to-morrow, so that you can make arrangements. From what I know at present it will be Thursday night, but if there is any alteration I will let you know in the morning." Owing to the theatre being engaged on Thursday night, the Premier has been informed thereof, and another evening will be arranged for, probably Friday. Since writing the above, a wire has been received from the Premier asking if Monday or Tuesday would be suitable. He has been informed that on Monday the hall is disengaged, but not on Tuesday. To-mor.-ow we will be in a position to announce date of meeting.
