Maori Parliament at Tokaanu.

The Maori Parliament at Tokaanu, Taupo. is prorogued. The meeting was carried on in a most orderly manner. There was only one day given for enjoyment, and that was the last day. The following were passed by the Assembly and sanctioned by the Premier, liamiora Mangakahia :—^ 1. A petition of the United Maoris is to be sent to the Imperial Government stating that the Parliament of the colony is not forming the laws of New Zealand according to the provisions set out in the Treaty ofWaitangi. 2. The United Maoris are to pick out several people to take this petition to England. Some of these shall be Maori women. The reason of this is because the Queen may be influenced by the presence of her dusky sister subjects. 8. Two shillings shall be levied upon each member of the L nitcd Maoris, and this money shall be put aside to pay the expenses of those who shall bo picked to take this petition to England. 4. The Papatupu shall not be allowed to be put through the Native Land Court, or leased, or sold. 5. The next Maori Parliament shall be held at Wairarapa on January Hnl when they expect to make all final arrangements concerning the visit to England. 6. Another meeting shall be held in Parihaka for the purpose of making another attempt to bring Te V> hiti and Tohu into the Uuited Maori community.
