The brigantine Lady Mabel was towed out to sea yesterday afternoon, and sailed in ballast for Auckland. The s.s. Flora is due from Wellington to-morrow, and sails for Gisborne and Auckland at 9.30 a.m. on Monday. The s.s. Burrumbeet is due from Wellington on Monday morning, leaving again for north at 5 p.m. Hie s.s. Kahu is due from Wellington to-morrow evening. The s.s. Wakatipu arrived at the Llufl from Melbourne yesterday ir.oMiin-.'. The s.s. Alameda arrived at Auckland from Sydney yesterday.

M;iy 1-5. The Upolu had a narrow escape from stranding on the voyage to \\ estport yesterday afternoon. When oii Sinclair Head the weather became very thick, and the land was lost sight of. The captain gave orders for the vessel to go dead slow, and shortly afterwards the haze lifted, and it was seen that the vessel was only a ship's length off the rocks in Oterangi Ray. The captain immediately gave orders "full speed astern." Those in the engine-room thought the vessel had struck, but those,oil deck were of a contrary opinion. Lite captain sounded, and found that the vessel was making no water. He decided to return to Wellington. A diver made an c-x----aitiii.; tii s morning, and found not th : .~-.ee of injuries.
