LIGHTEN OUR DARKNESS.

[To THE EdITOK.] Sir, —I have to thank you for suggesting to the Council the advisability of scattering a few lamp posts throughout the borough, even if they are only used to hold candles. Hastings is the most economic town I have ever lived in, that is in the matter of lighting. For a borough of over 3000 inhabitants it is miles behind the times in this respect. At least a dozen more lights are required in the town, and I hope our worthy Mayor will move in the matter. I am, &e., Fiat Lux. listings, May 18, 1896.
