FRUIT-GROWERS' PICNIC
THE COLONIAL TREASURER
ON TOUR
AN ACCCIDENT
PROMISED LEGISLATION
[Special to Standard.]
Wellington, This day,
The delegates to the Fruit-growers Conference left on an excursion trip to Masterton at the invitation of the Agricultural Department. The Colonial Treasurer will speak at New Plymouth on Tuesday, at Hawera on Wednesday, at Stratford on Thursday, and Wanganui on Friday. A man named Peter Hansen slipped over an embankment in Thorndon last night. When discovered he was to all appearances dead, with his head bent beneath him. He was removed to the Hospital, where he has since recovered consciousness.
An amendment to the Seamen's and Shipping Act dealing with load-lines and preventing unseaworthy ships putting to sea, will be one of the measures considered during the coming session.
