New Zealand's Prosperity.
A London correspondent writes : The ' British Australasian ' publishes a l'ing interview with Mr Keeves, and Mr Marriott Watson in the loading columns enthuses anent- New Zealand's prosperity and spendid prospects. As it is. New Zealand has led the van in the colonial meat trade, and she may be expected to reap her reward in the end. The dairy industry also has been put upon a satisfactory footing. There are large districts in which nothing is grown but cocksfoot, and nothing seen but cattle. It needs but a short time to place New Zealand dairy products on the Nome market in formidable rivalry with American and Canadian articles. Finally, there is the present revival in the mining industry from which to draw cheering encouragement. The activity of New Zealand mines in the present stagnant state of the market is one of the remarkable signs of the times. Nor can we doubt that attention will be directed more and more to the mines of the Thames and Coromandel goldlields. and later, let us hope, to the West Coast fit-Ids of the South island. In truth, the English investing public would seem to have made a rediscovery of New Zealand. The price of New Zealand stocks is ample indication of the esteem in which her financial position is held. Everything points, in short, to prosperous fortunes for the colony a fact in which all who have ever visited the beautiful country, not to speak of those who are materially interested in it, will rejoice.
